County board re-elects officers for 2007



BELLAIRE - In unanimous votes,Jack White of Elk Rapids Township,who represents District No. 4 on the Antrim County Board of Commissioners and District No. 7 Commissioner Laura Stanek were selected by their peers for a one-year term as chairman and vice chairman,respectively.

Stanek represents Jordan,Star,Chestonia and Warner townships on the county board.

"I would like to thank the members of the board and I hope to do the job you expect me to do,Ó White said,following his unanimous selection. "I appreciate the unanimous vote and I want to thank you.Ó

In their organizational meeting,commissioners also agreed to continue their regular meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. In the commissionerÕs room,located on the second floor of the county office building in Bellaire.

In new items,commissioners adopted a resolution,recommended by the finance committee,which grants expenditure approval by the treasurer. County Clerk Laura Sexton explained the resolution was requested by the county auditor and it will be added into the audit that the county is now in compliance. She said it is something the treasurer already has been doing.

Commissioners also recommended adding two new depositories to the list of those currently in place.

Treasurer Sherry Comben said commissioners could add the depositories to the list,but there was no guarantee that she would be able to use them this year.

Added were the Charlevoix State Bank,which has an Ellsworth branch,as suggested by District No. 1 Commissioner Jerold Drenth and the Bay Winds Federal Credit Union,suggested by District No. 2 Commissioner Eugene Dawson.

Commissioners also concurred with the appointment of Drenth as a member of the finance committee.
