Nyla was born on Dec. 9,1929,in Upper Jay,New York,the daughter of Edwin and Muriel (Sherman) Strandell.

She resided in Eastport since 1968 moving from Pontiac and had been a resident of Gradvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan for the past four years.

She was a member of the ShepardÕs House Church in East Jordan. Her greatest love was her family.

On Aug. 2,1947,in Auburn Hills,Mich.,she married John Kirby who preceded her in death in 1989. Also preceding her in death were a brother Gary,a sister,Dixie and one great grandchild Lilly.

Surviving are five children,John W. Kirby Jr.,of East Jordan,Randy L. (Susan) Kirby of White Lake,Judy Burns of Ellsworth,Jill (Dennis) Wolgamott of Central Lake,Trini (Jon) Kelly of Ellsworth,a brother Arnold Strandell of Cadillac,three sisters,Elaine Gerber of Auburn Hills,Lorene Wright of Rochester,Nora (Joe) Jones of Waterford,11 grandchildren,15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday,Jan. 3,2007 at 11 a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery,Torch Lake Twp.
