Jane Hughes Thie, 69, of Torch Lake, Forest Home Twp., formerly of Dayton, Ohio, died Friday, January 5, 2007, at home.
Jane was born Jan. 2, 1938 in Middletown, Ohio, the daughter of Bernard C. and Adelaide K. (Borcherding) Hughes.
She moved permanently to Torch Lake nine years ago where she had summered most of her life.
A 1956 graduate of Western Hills High School, she continued her education at The Ohio State University School of Dental Hygiene and completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree at The University of Cincinnati. She eventually became professor of Dental Hygiene for Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio for 26 years.
She was a member of the Central Lake First Congregational Church and the Kettering S.D.A.Church.
She was also a long time member of the Torch Lake Yacht and Country Club.
On June 28, 1958, in Cincinnati, she married Richard C. Thie Sr. who survives. Also surviving are four children Richard C. II (Ellie) of Metamora, Russell C. (Tracey) of Springboro, Ohio, Diana T. (Peter) OĠDonnell of Ada, Carla T. Huder of Petoskey, a brother Dr. James C. (Camilla) Hughes of Austin, Tex., six grandchildren Clark, Brendan, Claire, Hayden, Colin, and Carl, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the Central Lake First Congregational Church, with Pastor Bob Carter officiating.
Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Torch Lake Twp.
Memorial services will also be held on Jan. 26, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the Kettering Ohio S. D. A. Church with Dr. Peter Bath officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Lake First Congregational Church Parish Nurse Services or to Munson Hospice.
