Scott was born Oct.6, 1965 in Traverse City, the son of Ward and Jeanne (Friend) Cary. Scott was a lifelong resident of Central Lake and was employed by the East Jordan Iron Works as a payroll accountant. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and had a passion for playing basketball.

On Feb. 12, 2000 in Central Lake he married Sandra Allen who survives. Also surviving are his son Matthew Gene Cary at home; his parents, Ward and Jeanne Cary of Central Lake; a brother William (Dawn) Cary of Oxford, Fla; two sisters, Kathy (Charlie) James of Central Lake, Jill (Greg) Send of Williamsburg and ten nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his aunt Marilyn Proctor.

Funeral services took place Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Grace Community Church in Central Lake. Pastor Tim Manzer officiated.

Visitation took place on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Interment was in Southern Cemetery in Central Lake.
