Obituaries PUBLISHED: Scott was a lifelong resident of Central Lake.ÊHe graduated from Central Lake Public Schools and went on to graduate from Ferris State University with a Bachelors degree in Accounting.ÊThrough the years, he worked at Cary's Self Serve; he cut firewood for Randy Smith and Ralph Hines; he was employed as an accountant in Traverse City and Bellaire, and most recently, he was employed as a payroll accountant by the East Jordan Ironworks.ÊScott was a very hard worker.ÊHe was thorough and honest, and he always did the right thing. Scott was a great basketball player.ÊHe played basketball, baseball, and football at Central Lake High School.ÊEven after graduation, he found teams to play on to continue his passion for basketball. Another one of his passions was fishing.ÊHe spent many hours through his life fishing with family and friends.ÊHe loved to be in a fishing boat trolling up and down the lakes.Ê There were many family fishing trips as he was growing up, and even as an adult, he would go to Canada with his family to go fishing.ÊHunting was also something Scott enjoyed.ÊHe enjoyed the peaceful time in the woods and watching the deer. Scott was a 6 foot 4 inch man that had the heart of a kid.ÊHis goal in life was to make people laugh.ÊHe always had a story to tell.ÊScott had the kindest, gentlest heart.ÊHe would never say a bad word about anyone.ÊScott was so good with kids.ÊEven the neighborhood kids would come knock on their door to see if Scott could come out and play. Ê Scott loved his whole family very much, but he had a very special bond with his sister Kathy.ÊScott and Kathy were born only 18 months apart, and growing up, they were best friends.ÊScott would go to Kathy when he needed to talk knowing she would never betray him. Scott was his mom's special boy.ÊOf her four children, Scott was the most like her.ÊHe was quiet and lived at a slower pace.ÊScott loved all of his mom's cooking, but his favorite meal was her cabbage rolls, and he also loved Kathy's carrot cake. On Feb. 12, 2000, in Central Lake, he married Sandra Allen.ÊScott and Sandy did everything together.ÊThey enjoyed fishing, traveling to the U.P., going to Traverse City to go shopping, to dinner, or to the movies.ÊÊThey enjoyed just being together. On Aug. 15, 2002, they shared the birth of their son, Matthew.ÊScott was a wonderful father, and he loved his son very much.ÊScott liked to take Matthew fishing and spend time playing with him.ÊMatthew brought so much joy to Scott's life.Ê Scott is survived by his wife Sandy.ÊAlso surviving are his son, Matthew Gene Cary, at home; his parents, Ward and Jeanne Cary of Central Lake; a brother, William (Dawn) Cary of Oxford, Fla.; two sisters, Kathy (Charlie) James of Central Lake and Jill (Greg) Send of Williamsburg; and 10 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his aunt, Marilyn Proctor. |
