Central Lake jumped out to an 18-7 first quarter lead against the Ironmen, which turned into a 3214 advantage by halftime. "We had an overall pretty good night," Central Lake head coach Al Becker said. "Our shooting needs to improve. We shot 37 percent from the floor and 45 percent from the (free throw) line. Mancelona was not able to close the gap in the second half, as the Trojans cruised to a 62-34 victory. Jasmine Hines put up 34 points and hauled down 31 rebounds. Michelle Edwards scored 12 points. Kayla Adkins led Mancelona with 10 points. On Thursday, Central Lake welcomed the Ellsworth Lancers to town and beat them for the second time this season. The Trojans once again used a strong first quarter to establish an early lead, 15-8. The Lancers simply could not stop the Trojan scoring attack, which put up 18 points in the second quarter and 21 points in the third to give Central Lake a 54-29 lead after three quarters. The final score was 64-40. "This game was our best game since Christmas," Becker said. "We moved the ball really well; we shot better tonight." Central Lake shot 54 percent from the floor and 47 percent from the free throw line. "Our defense stepped up once again," Becker said. "With the exception of Jalyn Ingalls, who had a pretty good shooting night, we held everyone under six points. "Our kids are starting to get their rhythm back; the fun is back of just playing the game." Jasmine Hines had 36 points, 19 rebounds, and 7 blocks to lead Central Lake. Nikki Korb knocked down 12 points and had 5 steals. Ellsworth was led in scoring by Ingalls with 19. Central Lake was at Joburg on Tuesday for a big SVC clash, and they travel to Inland Lakes on Thursday. Ellsworth hosted Alba on Tuesday and welcomes Boyne Falls to town on Thursday. |
