Charles E. Purdy



Charles E. Purdy, 77, of Central Lake, passed away to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire, after a three-and-a-half-year struggle with melanoma.

He was born Oct. 27, 1929, in Central Lake Township, the son of Herbert and Marie (Ludbrook) Purdy.

On April 18, 1953, he married Lou Ann Brown in Banks Township. They made their home in Central Lake. '

Chuck was engaged in farming all his life. He also worked in construction and in sales of various products. He enjoyed life, his family and his church. He was a member of Belltower Reformed Church where he sang in the choir, served as Sunday School teacher, elder, and deacon. He especially enjoyed serving on a mission team in Chiapas, Mexico in 1970.

Surviving are his wife, Lou Ann; children, Charlene (Gary) Roberts of East Jordan, Sherry (Danny) Batt of Debary, Fla., Robert C. (Donna) Purdy of Central Lake, and Kim (Kevin) Ranum of Central Lake; eight grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; sisters, Betty Bedell of Bellaire, Dorothy Gibbard of Colorado Springs, Colo, and Cleo Purdy of Santa Barbara, Calif. He was preceded by brothersm LaVerne Purdy, Bill Purdy and sister, Suzanne Gibbard.

Funeral services were held Feb. 12, at Belltower Reformed Church, with the Rev. Kevin Karhoff officiating. Burial was in Atwood Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility.
