James Clarke



James F. Clarke, passed away Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at Kettering Medical Center following a brief illness.Ê

He is survived by wife, Janet Mardis Clarke, and son, Jeffrey M. Clarke, daughter-in-law Christine B. Whitaker-Clarke, and grandson, Zachary James Whitaker Clarke and also by daughters, Anne Clarke Oler of Kettering, OH., and Jane F. Clarke of Evansville, Ind., and by brother, David W. Clarke and wife, Keith, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.Ê

He was an ardent advocate of the Dayton community for more than 50 years, beginning as the very first public relations director for Sinclair Community College.Ê He also served as public relations director for the University of Dayton, Xavier University, the Dayton Chamber of Commerce, in the public relations department of NCR and as long-time development director for Kettering Medical Center.

He served as President of Montgomery-Greene Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease Association, as President of the National Association for Hospital Development and in various leadership roles for DavidÕs United Church of Christ.Ê Services were held at David's United Church of Christ, 170 W. David Road, Kettering, on Thursday, March 1, 2007, at 2 p.m.

Family and friends gathered following the service at The NCR Country Club, 4435 Dogwood Trail, Kettering.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to DavidÕs United Church of Christ, 170 W. David Rd., Kettering, OH, 45429 and the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra 109 N. Main St., Dayton, OH, 45402.
