Generosity abounds in Ellsworth

ELLSWORTH - Generosity was the order of business at the Ellsworth Village Council meeting March 12, as trustees received two donations from local residents.

The board approved funds for flowers and planting supplies to be used by Janice Drost as she initiates her annual volunteer sojourn beautifying the village with her potting and plantings.

David Muha continued his history of charity as well. He took a look at the zoning ordinance that was an imposing inch-thick stack of paper work, and revised it, presenting the board with six copies of the ordinance, spiral-bound and outfitted with an attractive cover. In the process, the document was made much more user- friendly and professional.

In other business, members learned there were some weather-related problems that occurred on Main Street, which will be reported to engineers Gosling/Czubak. Other street-related actions included approval to replace a new speed sign at Lincoln and Main as well as street signs for the corner of Elm and Main. A citizen complaint that described cars parking on private property on Center Street was referred to the police department.
