Robert W. Ansell



Robert W. Ansell, 78, died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City.

Bob grew up in Detroit. He served two years in the U. S. Army and 26 years as a police officer with the Detroit Police Dept. where he earned 13 meritorious citations. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was past commander of the Harper Woods and the Central Lake VFWŐs.

An avid reader, Bob also loved gardening, woodworking, and history, especially the Civil War era.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bernadette (nee Hensley); son, Robert (Chris) of Shelby Twp., son, Paul of Roseville, daughter, Laura of Redford and daughter-in- law Sandy of Grosse Pointe. Also surviving is his step-daughter Renee (Gene) Felton of Traverse City and stepson Robert Hensley of Mt. Clemens. Bob is also survived by his grandchildren, Julie, Pam, Jimmy, Lisa and Kevin and a sister, Marilyn (Eugene) Halstead of Bwedley, Ontario, Canada and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, on Friday, April 20 from 4 until 8 p.m. A time of sharing will take place at 7 p.m. Memorial services will be held at St. MichaelŐs Lutheran Church, 912 S. Garfield, Traverse City on Saturday, April 21 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Timothy Brand will officiate.
