Michael Kresnak



Michael Kresnak, 95, of Mancelona, died on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility.

Michael was born on March 18, 1912, in Myslava, Czechoslovakia, the son of Michael and Mary (Nic) Kresnak.

He was a lifelong resident of Mancelona where he was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and was a past member of the American Legion in Mancelona.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and enjoyed fishing and traveling.

On June 19, 1993, in Mancelona, he married Mary Ida Sheldon, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Andy (Lisa) Kresnak of Granger, Ind., Connie (Barry) Cole of Mancelona, seven step-children, Bill (Burneda) Alexander of Gaylord, Mary (Cliff) Scholl of Mancelona, Linda (Ferrell) Thomas of Grayling, Shirley (Jim) Lucas of Alden, Pastor Art Alexander of New York, David (Gody) Alexander of Gaylord and Rich (Deb) Alexander of Mancelona, a brother, Paul (Molly) Kresnak of Mancelona, two sisters, Margaret Puroll of Gladwin, Rose (Chuck) Belanger of Bellaire, four grandchildren, 19 step-grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Ethel (Grunder), and son Mark, his parents, two brothers, Andy and John Kresnak, five sisters, Mary Dobie, Mary Kresnak, Rose, Kate and Ann.

Funeral Mass took place on Saturday, April 14, 2007, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Mancelona. Fr. Dale Magoon officiated. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery in Mancelona.

Arrangements were handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
