Sports PUBLISHED:
A new addition to that song - athletic directors in Michigan. Though, they probably wish their week was only 40 hours. Schedules are shuffling and pencils worn down to the nub, as these folks try to turn the past two weeks of postponements into a fine-tuned machine by the end of this week. Between hoping the weather brightens, that the other team is available and that no league games are missed; the athletic directors at local high schools are stretched thin. Also thrown into the mix, is arranging transportation for all away events, along with coordinating help at home events. For them, itŐs probably the equivalent of cramming for college finals. The desk lamp gets turned on at 6 a.m. and remains on until their eyes can no longer remain open. Looking for available days to fit rescheduled games into. They most likely are writing in pencil, as many days of the calendar likely have eraser marks. On top of all that, if they receive a failing grade, itŐs not just from one professor, but from an entire community. And of course, they are sports fans - so many are missing prime sports viewing in the state. The Red Wings started their chase to the Stanley Cup with two wins in the opening series against Calgary. The defending American League champion Detroit Tigers, began their season. The Pistons are soon starting their playoff run and NASCAR never seems to stop. So if the schedule isnŐt smooth - give them a break. If every game doesnŐt get played - it happens when you play outside. And when you see them walking down the halls - update them on everything going on in the sports world, they have a lot on their plate.
