CENTRAL LAKE - Trojan ace Tyler Strange pitched a no-hitter shutout through four innings and struck out 8 last Thursday night to lead Central Lake to a 15-0 season-opening victory over Ellsworth.

Strange also contributed with his bat, drawing 3 walks, reaching on a single, scoring 3 runs and knocking in 2.

Landon Waller also put up big numbers in game one, scoring 4 runs and tallying 4 stolen bases.

Ryan Crawley took the mound for the Trojans in the second game and recorded 7 strikeouts while only giving up 2 hits and 1 run. Central Lake took the second game by a score of 5-1.

Ryan Hiltunen had a walk, a single and 2 RBIs. Willson Nemec recorded a single, an RBI and a run to lead the Central Lake offense.

The two victories were a good start for the Trojans, but coach Adam Grybauskas still found some things to work on.

"We made some mistakes," he said, "but we've only been outside two times, so that's going to happen."

The Trojans have several players returning from a squad that went 21-7 in 2007 and won a share of the conference title and also won a district crown. This year, they're looking for that and more.

"We'd like to do some things we did last year and maybe improve on those," Grybauskas said.

Central Lake hosts Inland Lakes on April 17, travels to Manton on April 19, and hosts Forest Area on April 21.
