Megan Comben had a triple, two singles and two RBIs, and Mary Walsh had a triple to lead the Bellaire hitting. Montana Bartsch added two singles and an RBI. Logan Edgecomb went the full seven innings on the mound with 12 strikeouts. Edgecomb gave up just one walk and four hits. In the nightcap, Edgecomb tossed three innings and got the win, while Walsh came on to pitch the last two frames. Edgecomb struck out two, walk one and did not give up a hit. Walsh struck out one walked two and did not surrender a hit. Edgecomb led the hitters with four hits and four RBIs, Amber Marshall had a double and two RBIs, Bartsch added two singles and one RBI and Walsh chipped in with a single and one RBI. "We're hitting very well right now and our defense is coming around," said Bellaire coach Katie Verellen. "We're getting stronger as we go along."

Edgecomb struck out eight with two walks and six hits to take the opener, while she struck out nine with just one walk and four hits to win the nightcap. The Eagles scored late in the first game posting one run in the fourth, two in the fifth and four in the sixth to best Inland Lakes' one in the first, one in the third and three in the fifth. In the second game Bellaire tallied one in the first, three in the fourth, four in the sixth and three in the seventh. "We started out slow, but we eventually turned it around. We had four errors in the first game," said Verellen. "Our bats came alive in the second game." Edgecomb (triple, three singles, two RBIs), Kara Liverance (double, single, four RBIs), three RBIs), Marshall (three singles), Walsh (three singles, two RBIs), Comben (double, single, two RBIs), Amanda Shawl (two singles) and Bartsch (triple, two singles) paced the Bellaire bats. Bellaire will host Elk Rapids on Thursday, May 1, and travel to Ellsworth on Monday, May 5. |
