Eagles tie for second



BELLAIRE Ñ Taking the top two places in the discus, and enjoying excellent scoring balance throughout the lineup, Bellaire girls' track team finished tied for second place in a six-team meet on Wednesday, April 25.

Grand Traverse Academy won the meet with 108 points. Bellaire and Mancelona tied for second with 102 each, while Ellsworth finished third (96), Central Lake fourth (90) and Traverse City Christian last. Mayleigh Dimofrio took first place in the discus with a throw of 62 feet, 4 inches while Jenna Deplonty followed her in second with a toss of 58 feet, 4 inches.

Lindsey Winslow picked up a third place in the 100-meter high hurdles with a time of 20.72 seconds. Erika Shuler had a fifth place finish in the 100-meter run with a time of 14.54 seconds.

Kayleigh Dinofrio finished ninth in the 100 with a time of 17.94 seconds, and Aimee Lowery was 10th in a time of 20.19 seconds. The Eagles won the 800-meter relay in a time of 2:03.66. Caitlyn McDaniel placed fifth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:48.73. Bellaire was second in the 400-meter relay with a time of 58 seconds flat.

Laura Sanchis-Sarti took a fifth place in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:23.48, while Cassi Makowski had sixth place in a time of 1:28.72. Winslow placed fourth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 57.60 seconds, and Kaila Fillmore took sixth place in a time of 1:06.51.

Erin Murray finished 10th in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:40.37, and Mallory McFarren took the 11th position with a time of 3:54.79. Kara Liverance was second in the 200-meter run with a time of 28.94 seconds, and Shuler took fifth place in a time of 31.71 seconds. Fillmore had a fifth place in the 3200-meter run with a time of 16:14.25. The Eagles picked up fifth place in the 1600-meter relay with a time of 5:22.97.

Erin McDaniel finished second in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 4 inches. Deplonty was fourth with a jump of 4 feet even.

Caitlyn McDaniel finished third in the pole vault at 5 feet. Deplonty was third in the shot put with a throw of 22 feet, 2 inches. Winslow finished third in the long jump with a leap of 12 feet, 4 inches.
