Earl was born March 10, 1919 in Colborne, Ontario, Canada, the son of Arthur H. and Georgia P. (Carter) Metcalf.

On December 28, 1945, in Detroit, he married Dora L. Dulyea who preceded him in death last year. Also preceding him in death were a sister Edith and husband Wesley Edwards, a brother George and a brother in law Mervin Mitchell.

Earl had served in both Canada and England during WWII in the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Surviving are two sons, Kimball (Patricia) Metcalf of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Arthur (Wilma) Metcalf of Ypsilanti, a daughter Suzanne (Robert) Baldwin of Mancelona, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren, three brothers Kelly (Jacqueline) Metcalf, Leslie (Freida) Metcalf, Stanley (Marilyn) Metcalf and two sisters Mary Mitchell and Lillan (Ron) Pomeroy all of Peterboro, Ontario, Canada.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, with son, Arthur W. Metcalf officiating.
