Joining him at the finals on Saturday, June 2, will be teammate Sean McDaniel in the pole vault. McDaniel vaulted 12 feet for second place. They were the only Eagles to qualify for state. Using its superior depth to place in every event, Manton came away with the team title by scoring 115 1/2 points. McBain and Coleman tied for second, as each tallied 75 1/2. The Eagles had 26 points, and finished eighth. Chris Busby tied for seventh place in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5 feet, 4 inches. Ethan Murry had an eighth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 7 inches. Bellaire's 800-meter relay team placed fourth in a time of 1:38. Andrew Moran picked up fourth place points for the Eagles in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.30. In the girls meet, Bellaire scored 17 points and finished 12th. Beal City took the team title with 120 points, and Marion was second with 107. Molly Poel, in only her second competition of the season, finished third in the shot put with a throw of 33 feet, 8 inches and qualified for state. Poel, who had knee surgery before the season and wears a heavy leg brace, also took a fourth place in the discus with a throw of 93 feet, 2 inches. Bellaire's 800-meter relay team finished in seventh place with a time of 2:01.90. The Eagles were sixth in the 400 relay with a time of 55.60 seconds.
