He said the best news of the evening, was that the state is providing $2 million dollars to the project. "There were a lot of questions, mainly regarding how long it will take," MacQuarrie said. "People want to get safe drinking water as soon as possible." He says the project should be completed by year's end, but the schedule isn't complete yet, as the grant was just approved by the state. Another issue addressed at the meeting, was the rationale behind choosing which homes are connected automatically to the water system, and which homes aren't. "Only homes that are directly affected, will be covered by the grant," he said. "Others can pay to be connected, but the state in stringent with it's money. It won't pay for connection to somewhere, that may be affected in the future." He added the process in in the preliminary stages of planning where the water line will be put in. MAWSA has a meeting Tuesday and MacQuarrie says he encourages residents to attend the meeting and ask for themselves. "It's the best way for people to stay informed," he said. "If they have questions, they are welcome at the meeting and we will help the best we can." |
