His energy, ability and strong will earned him respect and promotions and in 1947 he was made Production Manager and part of the team that built the new Atlanta Assembly plant, and then Assistant Plant Manager. He subsequently moved as management trouble shooter, helping to make other plants more profitable. He served as the Plant Manager of the Louisville Assembly plant, the Dearborn Michigan Assembly Plant in the Rouge and the Mahwah New Jersey Assembly plant and assistant General Manager of the Automotive Assembly Division. Blunt was a long time resident of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. After retiring and before moving to Brighton, he lived on Torch Lake, near Bellaire, Mich., for 45 years where he and his wife were active members of the Presbyterian Church in the Hills and were Charter Members of the Three Lakes Association, working to create the Grass River Nature Conservancy. As a gifted amateur woodworker, Blunt made many of the special custom features of the Church in the Hills addition. He and Beatrice wintered in Nokomis, Fla. He loved to travel; he and Beatrice went to China, Japan, Alaska, Wales (where his father was born), Norway (where his wife's mother was born)and throughout the United States. He was an avid gun collector, enjoyed shooting skeet and trap, fished from the Deep Sea to Torch Lake, loved golf (charter member of Guys and Dolls Golf League at Shanty Creek), was an exceptional storyteller and worked and played with style and professional skill. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Beatrice June (Molzahn) Blunt, his son Thomas Owen Blunt and wife Trina of Louisville, Ky., daughters Bette June Holden and husband Robert of East Lansing, Mich., Kathleen Lois Roberts of Howell, Mich and by eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who will all miss him very much. |
