Shirley was born June 2, 1935, in Mancelona to Ervin and Mae (Henderson) Grody. On June 6, 1953, she married William Stephenson in Mancelona.

Shirley loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed playing cards and drinking coffee.

Shirley is survived by seven children; Carol (Bill) Anderson of Reed City, Deborah (Robert) Stradinger of Columbiaville, Sue (Tony) Herbers of Elmira, William (Jill) Stephenson of Mancelona, Dennis "Jim" (Sarah) Stephenson of Flushing, Shari (Tom) DeRuiter of Mancelona, Dawn Allen of Mancelona, son Steven (Rebekah) Weis of Atwood and other stepchildren, brothers; Don (Esther) Grody of Mancelona, Howard (Shirley) Grody of Mancelona, Jake (Billie) Grody of East Jordan, sisters; Dorothy (Harry) Richards and Ilene (Lee) Hubbard both of Mancelona, sisters in laws; Arthella Grody and Shirley Grody; many, many grandchildren, many great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and special friend Joe Coppersmith of Alba.

She was preceded in death by her 1st husband William Stephenson, 2nd husband Albert Weis, brothers; Robert, Veril "Red", and Ernest "Bill" Grody, sister Sylvia Troyer and infant siblings Wayne and Maxine.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 15th, at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Pastor Ross Corneofficiating. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery in Mancelona.
