Eleanor I. Wickstrom



Eleanor I. Wickstrom, 98, of Las Vegas, formerly of Bellaire, died on May 20, 2007, at her retirement home in Las Vegas.

Eleanor was born on June 5, 1908 in Wolverine to Elizabeth and John Tulpo. She graduated from Houghton High School and Northern Michigan College in Marquette. She taught school in Norway, Merritt, Mancelona, Pinconning and Saginaw school systems, until she retired. She lived in Florida, on Torch Lake, and in Bellaire before moving to Las Vegas several years ago.

She is survived by her two children, Douglas Arliss) Wickstrom of Bellaire, and Audney Beth Earl) Somerville Jr. of Las Vegas. She is also survived by three sisters and one brother in law, and by 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Per A. Wickstrom.

As per her wishes, her body has been cremated, and her remains buried in the Norway cemetery next to her beloved husband.

A memorial service celebrating Eleanor's life was held at the Hope Lutheran Church in Bellaire on June 16, the Rev. Raymond Parent officiated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent, in Eleanor's name, to the Bellaire Senior Center, 308 Cayuga St. Bellaire, Mich., 49615.
