As the meeting was called to order, it was obvious that the board realized the summer had gotten off to a good start for the community, and they were anxious to build on that momentum for visitors and residents alike. It got good news from its parks committee when it learned that the campground has been full, and is predicted to have good occupancy through August. As well, Thurston Park landscaping will begin shortly. The committee also shared that they are considering the possibility of improving Donaldson Field with an irrigation system. In other committee reports, Police Chief Robert Clark informed the board that there had been 70 events requiring law enforcement attention in the last month, and that 23 were handled by the Central Lake police. Department of Public Works supervisor Sam Mullens described the summer work as going well. The board continues to ponder its options for the 40 acre parcel of land the village owns that will soon be home to a revenue-generating gas well. Mike Merriweather made a presentation to those present of several suggestions for property utilization. Also on the agenda for actions are several issues involving the Planning Commission. The board is asking that it report back its recommendations for correcting a discrepancy on the current zoning map, and deal with issues of blight that are in need of attention. These items will be followed up at the August meeting. |
