Daniel was born on August 7, 1958 in Havre de Grace, Maryland the son of Lester and Helen (Goss) Shepherd.

He had been a long time resident of Flushing before moving to Alden a year ago.

He enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. On August 17, 2002 he married Rebecca Szukhent who survives.

Also surviving are three children, Daniel Shepherd II of Germany, Gayle Shepherd of Flint, Missy (Rick) Hartzell of Missouri, his mother Helen May of Maryland, two brothers, Doug Shepherd of North Carolina, Jimmie May of Maryland, a sister Donna (Joe) Toliver of Maryland, two grandchildren, Fiona and Bergin Hartzell and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Lester Shepherd and his stepfather Jim May.

Funeral services took place on Sunday, July 22, at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Visitation took place on Saturday from 3-8 p.m. also at the funeral home.
