h D. Ross, 82, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was born on May 22, 1925 in Port Carbon, Pennsylvania, to the late Daniel and Ruth Dinkel. She was also predeceased by her daughter Lisbeth A. Ross and her brother William Dinkel. She is survived by her husband John S. Ross, Jr.; three sons: Dexter L. Ross and wife Kathleen, John S. Ross III and wife Susan, and Bruce C. Ross and wife Susan; seven grandchildren: Aaren, Nathan, Ryan Madison, John, Campbell and Hale; two great-grandchildren: Tai and Enzo; sister Dorothy S. Fidler and brother David A. Dinkle; and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was a long-time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where she was one of the first women elected to the office of deacon. She attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, and later played many roles in Showtimer's Roanoke community theater productions. She especially enjoyed sharing her summer home on Torch Lake with family and friends. A memorial service will be scheduled in Roanoke at a later time, at the convenience of the family.
