Obituaries PUBLISHED: Marilyn Keck Kirwin (Minnie) passed away Aug. 21, 2008 surrounded by her four children: Paul, Bill, Tom and Virginia (Wride). Just before her death Minnie summoned the strength to reiterate key lessons of life and then said her goodbyes individually to her children.ÊFollowing this emotional exchange she then insisted that a picture be taken. It was and will go down as the final chapter in the incredible story that was Minnie. Marilyn Keck Kirwin was born in Union City, Ind. to Paul and Stella Keck on Aug. 12, 1922. She graduated from Emma Willard Preparatory School in Troy, New York, attended Connecticut College for Women and then graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor of science degree. She later gained a masters degree in guidance counseling from Ball State University. She married John Kirwin in 1947. Along with being a mother, she was an active member of clubs and societies in her hometown, and quietly helped many people along the way. She was the Union City tennis coach, leading her men's team to the only undefeated season in the school's history. Minnie moved to Bellaire in 1992, establishing a home at her long time vacation cottage. In her numerous get-togethers, she endeared herself to many along the shores of Lake Bellaire and beyond by spreading her unique brand of entertainment, philosophy and friendship. Her later years were devoted to the Chain of Lakes ecosystem that connects Lake Bellaire. Ê Marilyn is survived by her sister Margaret Keck Harrison. Minnie leaves behind four children, and five grandchildren: Paul, Ali, Alex, Abigail and Molly. Her extended family of nieces, nephews and their children will all miss her unique personality.
