Gerald E. Sloat, 64, of Central Lake, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008 at Hospice of Little Traverse Bay, in Petoskey.

He was born Jan. 26, 1944 the son of Merriel and Laura (Peterson) Sloat in Flint.

Ê Gerald worked for General Motors for 30 years in Flint before retiring in 1998.ÊUpon retirement he moved to his house on Benway Lake.ÊHe enjoyed motorcycle riding, snowmobiling, boating, waterskiing and working on the golf course.

On Dec. 8, 1984 in Mt. Morris, he married Rosemary Smith who survives.

Ê Also surviving is sister Marilyn (Jack) Aplin, sister-in-law Ruth (Roland) Baker, sister-in-law Wilma Gerow and brother-in-law Marvin (Lois) Smith, all of Mt. Morris and several nieces and nephews.

Ê He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date.ÊMemorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.
