Jeff Spade is a decorative and fine arts painter in Brighton, Michigan, but makes the trip to the Alden Art Fair every year.

"Alden was one of my first shows back when I first got started a few years ago," said Spade. "I've spent some time in Northern Michigan in the summer time, and Alden has always been one of my favorite towns." Spade grew up in Southeast Michigan where he went to school and eventually became an automotive graphic designer, but true contemporary art was always his first love.

"When I first really started getting serious about painting, the Alden Art Fair was one of my first exhibitions,"Spade said. "Since then I've gotten quite close with some of the volunteers who help out at the fair."

Spades art style has been making noise in Michigan for years, especially his trademark reverse glass painting technique, which involves painting an image on one side of a piece of glass in reverse order to make a layered image when the glass is flipped over.

"Yeah, that's the slickest thing I've been doing lately,"Spade said. "It's very tricky, but looks great when done correctly."

Spade will be touring in Florida during the winter, but will be coming back up North come the summer months to return to the fair circuit.

"I love coming up here and showing my work; it's a great way to get exposure when you're a regular at the fairs in the area. I'm very excited to come back to Alden next August."
