Grybauskas could count that mission accomplished. Other than a few minor bumps and bruises, which are to be expected under the circumstances, the Trojans were all standing when the dust cleared. As for the rest, well, Grybauskas is playing it pretty close to the vest at this time of the season. With the season opener on Friday at home against Johannesburg-Lewiston, Grybauskas didn't want to be revealing anything that the Trojans' opponents could use as bulletin board material. He obviously wasn't going to be laying out the coaching staff's strategy on offense and defense, either, so his opponents could steal away some of the secrets that will be unveiled Friday night. Since it was suspected that a scout from Johannesburg-Lewiston might be in the bleachers, taking down notes on what the Trojans were running on each side of the ball, Grybauskas kept everything pretty simple. No trick plays. No intricate defensive schemes. "You don't show everything you have,"Grybauskas said of the scrimmage. "We kind of really evaluate a scrimmage on effort, and stuff. "I thought our effort was good, and our intensity was good. There are some things that we definitely have to improve on, and that's part of (the reason) for having a scrimmage. But, all in all, (it) wasn't too bad." Johannesburg runs the Wing-T offense, but could be even more proficient at it this season because of the number of fast and elusive running backs on the squad. Because it's an offense Johannesburg has been running for years, it's obviously very disciplined at it. The Trojans' goal on defense will be to disrupt the timing of the offense, and force Johannesburg out of its normal game plan. |
