She was a resident of Mancelona since 1956 and was aÊ long time member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Mancelona where she was active with theÊ Ladies Guild and was a past president of the Parish Council.

She sold AFLAC family insurance for many years and enjoyed reading, gardening and canning.

Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren.Ê Having them around always made her smile.Ê She loved hearing about their activities and accomplishments.

ÊOn September 3, 1955 in Traverse City, she married Lyle McFarren who survives her. Also surviving are three children, Denise McFarren (Brent Smith) of Mancelona, Patrick McFarren of Mancelona, Thomas (Laura) McFarren of Bellaire; three very special grandchildren, Mallory McFarren, Jonathan Smith, Jacob Smith; her brother, Bud Forton of Manistee and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Gibson, Virginia Hubbard; and brother, Dick Forton.

A Funeral Mass took place Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Mancelona.Ê Fr. Dale Magoon officiated.
